"84 Trees" is a tree planting project aimed at creating:
A LIVING MEMORIAL to remind the world of the 'Sikh Genocide in 1984'.
It is said that Legacy is about life and living. It is about learning from the past, living in the present, and building for the future. So what better way to leave a legacy than to plant trees, for the idea of leaving something behind that will outlive all of us, if not "live forever" is appealing.
While the government of India had embarked on a journey of state sponsored terror leading to the genocide of its innocent, unarmed minority citizens. The victims however, retaliate, not by comitting atrocities against the perpetrators, but rather, in line with the teachings of the Sikh Guru's, by promoting life on mother earth. By embarking on a mission to plant trees, to ensure that neither we, nor the world, ever forgets '84.
84 Trees are to be planted in 84 different locations throughout the UK, and information on the locations will be provided online on our website, and, in a memorial book to be published shortly after the completion of the planting of the last of the 84 trees.
